What Type of Equipment is Needed to Play Pickleball
If you’re new to pickleball, you may be wondering what kind of equipment you need to get started. The good news is you don’t need much! Perfect when you’re looking for things to do on vacation. Unlike some sports, you don’t need protective gear or special shoes. All you really need is a ball, paddle, and a court with a net. If you’re looking for the best pickleball equipment, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few paddles, balls, and nets, all designed to help you get the most out of your pickleball game.
What are the Rules of Pickleball?
For those of us playing pickleball, one of the cardinal rules is that the ball must stay inbounds. The lines outlining the court or field serve as boundaries and if the ball crosses one, the opponent gets a point. So, keep an eye on that pickleball and make sure it doesn’t get too close to the line!
Two Bounce Rule of Pickleball
One of the things that makes pickleball so unique is the “Two Bounce Rule”. The ball must bounce at least once on each side of the court, for both the serve and the return of the serve. Once this has happened, either side can play the ball in the air or let it bounce. This rule adds an extra level of strategy to the game and makes it more interesting to play.
Serving in Pickleball
If you’re playing pickleball, you’ve gotta serve from the baseline. That’s the rule! So make sure you underhand it and keep it below the waistline, hitting the ball diagonally over the net and across the court. And that’s how you serve in pickleball!
No Volley Zone
No-volley zone, also known as the kitchen, is the lined box located seven feet off the net. When serving, the pickleball cannot land in the no-volley zone. After the serve, the ball can land in the kitchen. This rule is in place to keep the game fair for all players. The no-volley zone is an important part of the game and should be respected by all players.
Points in Pickleball
Pickleball in Florida is a game for all ages. The game ends at 11, 15, or 21 points. The winner(s) has to win by at least two points. However, the game can be extended to 15 or 21. When playing singles, 11 and 15 are the most common point totals. When playing doubles, 15 and 21 are the most common.
